Dave's Taverna Opens 'Gourmet Takeaway'

People downtown may have noticed
something different when driving past Dave's Taverna. Two weeks ago,
the restaurant expanded to include a "Gourmet Takeaway" - a
fast-food-type window and mini Greek grocery store.
With the
extension, Dave's will now sell pre-made gyros and soups as well as
their traditional takeout.
"Cooking something unique just got
a lot easier and faster," said owner David Miller.
About six
months after opening the downtown location, Miller said, the
business outgrew the kitchen's capacity.
So when Dance &
Company bought and renovated the adjacent building, its owners
offered to lease Miller some of the space.
The addition gives
the restaurant room to sell a few Greek items such as Greek cheeses,
date cookies and mango salsa shipped directly from New York
City.
Now, customers can also purchase menu items in bulk.
For instance, Miller sells his house dressing and a pizza kit,
complete with dough, sauce and a topping.
The Gourmet
Takeaway is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
